Scorched Earth Party is a production and design duo from Houston, TX formed in February 2020 in the wake of the COVID lockdown. The group writes and records the instrumentation; enlisting different creatives from around the US to contribute vocals whether they are sung or spoken word. SEP plans to release 3 singles and an EP for 2021, with the first single “Better Off Dead” being released through Majia Records on Feb. 05, 2021. “Better Off Dead” features vocals from Buddy Moses of Rank/ Pretty Shitty. It’s B-side, “I Used to Come Here as A Boy”: a 26 minute spoken word track has screenwriter Jacob Reynolds (Solomon) from Gummo on vocals. Lyrics coming from bastardized dialogue from Reynolds’s screenplays and Moses’s off the cuff life. “Better Off Dead” is a fast punk track inspired heavily by Discharge. The b-side “I Used To Come Here As A Boy” is inspired by William Burroughs/ Kurt Cobain track, “The Priest They Called Him” with influences from Gil Scott-Heron. All tracks were written and recorded at Demon Court Studio in Houston, TX.
